This update fixes a problem introduced in version 3.0.13133 that could cause a crash while updating charts that were being viewed at the same time.
This update is very important to anyone using the USACE IENC charts. The Corps has switched to a new chart format and has discontinued support of the older format. This update to Rose Point ECS is necessary to use the new IENC 2.2 format charts that are now being produced. In addition, the Corps is making available a special “overlay” chart that contains buoy positions. Rose Point ECS will automatically keep the buoy overlay chart up-to-date if it is configured to update any of the IENC regions.
This update also contains many enhancements to the interface to various electronic devices, especially NMEA 2000 and Bluetooth, as well as a few other bug fixes and performance enhancements.
Charts
- Added the “Charts Here > Include Small-Craft Charts” command to allow small-craft charts to be enabled/disabled all at once.
- Switched over to the new USACE IENC 2.2 chart catalog.
- Added the new USACE IENC buoy overlay to the catalog.
- Added “Report a problem with this chart” links to NOAA ENC, NOAA RNC, USACE IENC, and CHS BSB charts.
- Indicate “Source date” in Properties of S-57 chart objects.
- Allow IENC overlay features to be selected so their properties can be seen.
- Highlight the safety contour in S-57 charts.
- Implemented symbolized area fills for S-57 charts.
- Use in new technique to determine ENC titles so that more of them can be found.
Electronics
- Added support for the Raven Revolve ROT Generator.
- Changed the scale of the GPS signal strength indicators.
- AIS transponders now appear in the lists of position sources (along with GPS receivers) on the boat’s context menu, the Cruise Mode GPS menu, and the Configure Vessel and Electronics window.
- Removed “Prefer GPS/AIS Position” commands from boat context menu now that the AIS can be selected more directly.
- Enabled priority options for heading and depth sensors.
- When a port has more than one GPS, show a list of them in the troubleshooter’s GPS status panel so you can monitor each one.
- Gave the NMEA 0183 GGA sentence a higher priority for position information than GNS and RMC since it is generally more useful. (This also shows the HDOP for more GPS receivers on the boat’s context menu and the Cruise Mode GPS menu.).
- Recover from disconnected and reconnected Bluetooth COM ports.
- Ignore “incoming” Bluetooth ports since they can’t be used and cause problems when you try to.
- Updated Port Troubleshooter’s General page to show more information in a better format.
- Fixed a problem where Port Autodetection window would not always find AIS Receivers and Transponders.
- Fixed problem where Port Autodetection window would be unresponsive when dis-connected and broken Bluetooth ports were available.
- Don’t use overlapped I/O with Prolific serial ports so their driver doesn’t crash the PC as often.
- In troubleshooter for NMEA 2000 interfaces, show PGNs for each device that is sending it.
- Show NMEA 2000 instance numbers in troubleshooter and sensor pages.
- Fixed a problem auto-detecting Actisense and Maretron NMEA 2000 gateways.
- Fixed a problem initializing an Actisense NGT-1 when it was already configured, but not plugged in at startup, and subsequently plugged in.
- Utilize NMEA 2000 rudder angles even when instance is set to “unknown”.
- Support multiple sensors on the same port (important for NMEA 2000). NOTE: Any previous NMEA 2000 sensor configuration will need to be redone (e.g. GPS position on vessel, name, priority, etc.).
Miscellaneous
- Fixed problem with Range/Bearing Lines distance units.
- Indicate when a download fails in the Add-Ons > Downloads window.
- Don’t offer to send error reports unless an application error is found in the log or a Windows crash report is found.
- Fixed problem calculating log-race route leg distances when viewed or printed at small scales.
