2025 US Tide and Current Data
Rose Point has changed the way that US tide and current predictions are calculated in Coastal Explorer and Rose Point ECS versions 4. This change will improve the accuracy of the predictions and allow us to update the information more efficiently.
However, this update does have some side effects you should know about before deciding to use it:
- The download is fairly large – around 500 MB – so you should make sure you have a good internet connection that does not charge you too much for large downloads.
- The predictions are pre-calculated and only two years of predictions are included. Next year’s data will be made available before the new year.
- The old data included some unofficial Canadian stations and these are not included in the new data. (Tide and current predictions for Canada based on official CHS data are included in our Canadian chart products.)
If you decide to continue using the old data, please realize that it is no longer maintained. NOAA is continually updating the information used to make the predictions so some stations may already show inaccurate predictions and others may be accurate now, but become less accurate in the future.
How to Install the New US Tide and Current Data
The new data will be available right after it is installed, but you’ll need to restart the program to get rid of the old data.
